The foundations of yoga life coaching are based in yogic principles and grounded in the psychology and neuroscience of mental and emotional wellness. Combined with the five energetic principles [grounding, uplifting, centering, expansive, and connection to the whole] and the five elements of the Akhanda yoga method [movement, breath work, sounding, meditation, and philosophy]. YLC provides and holds space to explore and discover whatever unhelpful beliefs arise relating to anxiety, stress, depression, addiction and trauma. Approaching the work through grounding and embodiment, its aim is to create awareness around the physical manifestations, providing tools for coping and release. If not addressed these symptoms can become enmeshed and attached to stories. These stories, can prevent this energy from moving out. The energy becomes trapped in the body, blocking or weighing us down. These stories can become our reality, the foundation of our reactions and the ceilings we hit. They box us in, creating a feedback loop that can leave us feeling powerless and trapped. YLC is designed to cultivate mindfulness, embodiment, resiliency, self-compassion and connection. Supporting integration of mind, body and spirit, unlocking peace, harmony, and inner freedom.
While modern yoga is primarily fixated on the physical perspective, much of the psychological benefits are overlooked. This can take focus away from the original intention and deeper levels of the practice. These levels can hold the key to unlocking the discontent and suffering that can remain buried in our mind and body. Using a holistic approach, we unite eastern and western philosophies, combining methods, approaching the mind and body as whole and complete.
YLC sessions focus on the experience of the body. By establishing grounding and mindfulness, a space is created for self-exploration. I provide education tailored to specific, individual needs, expanding beyond a one size fits all approach. YLC is focused on cultivating an environment where awareness and self-discovery become the tools for recovery, avoiding expectations that can result in spiritual bypassing and archetypal labels.
The YLC intention is integrating practices and principles for mental wellness. I believe that all therapy and work related to self-discovery have great value. No one method holds all the answers or has a monopoly on recovery. The body needs to heal with the mind, these are not seperate. The foundations of YLC are embodiment, mindfulness, self-compassion, connection and resiliency. I believe this is the bridge between the top down, talk therapy approach, and bottom up, somatic approach. I endeavor to hold space for acknowledgment and integration, providing tools that are accessible and available at all times. I believe that our true nature is happy, joyful, playful, helpful, and expansive. There is a source of infinite strength within us. When this strength is realized, it becomes a foundation for emotional and mental wellness. The realization and nurturing of this strength has led to resiliency in my recovery. YLC has become an essential piece of the daily maintenance necessary to maintain and grow my personal recovery. It has shown me my inner strength. Its value is measured in my willingness to be of service. I keep it by giving it away. If you are struggling as I have, looking for the missing piece or pieces in your recovery, please don’t hesitate to contact me, I am available and willing to share what I have learned. You are not alone.
